LITTLE ANGEL BOY
For this EP, I was inspired by the works of Burial, André 3000, Akira Yamaoka, and Ludwig Göransson. I used a lot of elements to make a collection of ambient tracks that were compelling musically, conceptually, emotionally, and atmospherically.
Endlessly debated through, I finalized these four tracks to represent how I’m not quite done with electronic music, but rejecting the anti-DIY status quo that reigns over the music industry at all times. Electronic music has always been about raw emotion and although I have become jaded on its process, I still ultimately love it. These songs were meant to reconcile those emotions with a DIY sound that still punches and cuts through the fog of oversaturation. This is an EP asking myself the question…

Contour and structure played a substantial role in the newest release from Fluorescent Funeral. Strong basses, smooth synths, textural stabs, and heavy hitting drums were all finely crafted with just as much attention as the last. Each independent layer was made in coalescence with the last to create an overarching shape.
The music is also heavily reliant on atmosphere and nostalgia. Using effects such as chorus, delay, and specially made reverbs, the perfect balance of low-fidelity texture and high quality sound design was formed.
‘this time last year EP’ was a commentary on the hero’s journey. One that is emotional and severe. One experience by many, the journey away from home for the first time.
